I have a problem with word.
in each of the corners of a word document i have a half square in grey- its some kind of border/guideline. How do i get rid of it?
my dad says it appeared once he inserted a picture onto a word document
they are parallel to the horizontal and vertical scroll bars- so its something to do with that!
To clarify the "half square looks like (top right):
Is it viewable when you preview or print the document? If not then it is just a place marker.
If it is there when you print try highlighting the picture, go to format/borders and shading and select none even if its showing none selected.
Could you take a print screen of it so I can see if i can replicate it?
I am at work so cant view Word from my home PC- i have gone to
format/borders and shading on my work PC and the 'things' i describve are like that in the preview box- so it sounds highly likely this is what it is!
Does it look like this pic below on all the blank documents? If it is, go to tools/options and make sure text boundaries is unticked.
If its not like that and every new document you create has the marks or placeholders, your normal.dot template has become changed or corrupt.
All you need to do is show all hidden files and folders, navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates and delete the normal.dot. Reboot the machine and Office will create a new normal.dot template. Hopefully there shouldnt be any placeholders etc on there then.
