I want to install a new hard drive and then format the old drive, buy an enclosure and use it as an external hard drive. How can I transfer my XP Pro to my new hard drive? I have a full version disk I used originally. Will Microsoft allow me to load in on the new drive?

Yes. No problem. Just run a new Clean Install.

There is also cloning software if you want to copy your old drive to the new.

But if you have any issues/problems with the old drive they will be cloned as well.
