    HP Monitor w19b aspect ratio

I have today installed a new HP monitor, model w19b which defaults to 16:9 ratio, thus most of what I see is stretched to fit the screen. Is it possible to adjust the aspect ratio? If so, how?

is there a menu button on your monitor?

    if so press it...

is there then a "ratio select" or anything like that in the options?

if so, you should be able to change it here

There is no ratio control in the menu. (Trying to contact HP is not easy!)

you normally need to wait a few days for a reply aswell!

what about image setup or aspect ratio? image size?

im searching google for an answer now

One note of caution: make sure your display card supports at least 1600*1200 if you wish to get 1440*900 resolution. Any less, you would be stuck with a distorted image, where a circle looks like an ellipse. So before buying, load up a circle .
does your graphics card support 1440x900?
is the image distorted as described above?
have you tried changing the resolution? (right click on your desktop, click properties, go to the settings tab and move the slider to the left)

No my graphics card does not support 1440x900. The image is distorted as you quote, that is why I want to change it. I can do so by changing the resolution, but then the image, (eg Icons), are then not clear, sort of 'fractured'. I'm sinking!

Mike, thanks for your help, you did manage to point me in the right direction. Yes, it seems I do need a new graphics card. Presumably I could buy one form PC World and install it myself?
