is it possible to uninstall xp pro and install home edition without causing any problems and woul i have to totally wipe my system clean of everything, thanks.

yes, you would need to wipe your system clean, this is one of the steps required when setting up xp...

1) boot up from XP CD
2) Press enter to set up XP
3) chose a drive or partition to install XP to
4) chose how you wish to format (wipe) the drive
5) set up will format the drive and install xp
6) it will then restart and say press any key to boot from cd- Dont (otherwise you are starting again)
7) set up xp (chosing language, computer name and so on)
8) re-install all your drivers (audio/video/LAN (if required) and any others you need)
