    File & Printer Sharing/wireless printing

Someting's going wonky here and I'm wondering if one of you geniuses can help me out. I've set this stuff up before but I'll be a monkey's uncle if I can figure out why I can't get TWO computers to access the printers on the wireless network in my father-in-law's house.

We know what the name of the network is, we know what the name of the hard-wired computer is, and we know what the name of the printer is.

If I go to "add a printer" -- I get to the wizard, which apparently cannot find any printers. There should be two different printers. If I try to force it by searching for the named printer, it says that it doesn't exist.

Both of these laptops can access the WiFi network just fine. I've tried turning off the firewalls on both laptops in the process.

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing, please?

Have you set the printer to share? Can each computer see the other comp ok, files etc?

Yes. There are already two computers that recognize these printers. For some reason, two newer computers won't. These two newer computers won't access other files, either.

Sounds like an access problem then. Which comp has the printer on it, an older or newer one?

The older one, but they're all running Windows XP.

Does anything show up in the firewall logs to say something is trying to access the computer?
I would try running the network wizard on the older comp to try accessing the newer one. Something is stopping it somewhere along the line. I know my laptop won't connect to the desktop using the wireless if MS Word is open on the lappy. I still haven't figured out why but it seems any little thing will interfere with them.
