    DVD-RAM Drive Missing ----Please Help!!

Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)

The other day I was running windows update on my computer and ended up adding a lot of security updates, a couple days later I noticed that my DVD-RAM drive was missing from My Computer, I have tried going into the hardware manager to update the driver, and it says that I am using the most updated driver. I have tried uninstalling the driver and re-installing it, I just get the same message above (Code 37). I am using a laptop, and the drive opens and closes, and I can hear it spinning the CD's inside the computer, but I can't see the drive on My Computer and the CD/DVD won't run. Please help!

Go to the Device Manager and right click the drive.

Choose Uninstall. Note: Do not uninstall the driver but Uninstall the drive.

Reboot and see if that fixes it.

I uninstalled the drive and rebooted, I don't believe anything changed. The (D: )
drive is still not showing up in My Computer. Any other suggestions?

Are you familiar with your BIOS Setup? If so is the drive detected in the BIOS?

Also check your Disk Management. Rather than the Device Manager go to Disk Management. Is the drive detected there?

Also: what is the exact make and model of your computer?

My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite M55-S325. I am not familiar with BIOS, how do I access that information. Also I know I have seen the Disk Manager before, but I am drawing a blank as where to find it, sorry to be so difficult.

Also what CD/DVD software are you using?

The software that I have used is just the basics that came with the computer. Sonic RecordNow! is the CD burning software I use, and Intervideo WinDVD is the DVD software I use to view DVDs.
