My brother can not get on the net or send and recieve e mail . called verison dsl .they said no problem on their end . He installed AVG without fully removing Norton . add and remove won't remove norton . avg dosen't show up there . tried walking him through the reg to remove it . no go . He never made the sys recovery disk i told him to . Gates don't send you a win disk any more . so i can't reinstall windows unless i want to give him more money . any help at this point would be greatly appreciated . thanks ..

Try a System Restore to a point when all was well.

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

If that doesn't work what is the make and model of the computer?

Recovery disks and options are supplied by the computer manufacturer; not Microsoft.

If the PC is o.e.m your brother should be provided with a system restore disk.

They also should supply you with a full version disk for times of doing repair installs and use of other utilities etc.

Post what version of Norton products you have, then we can point you to the norton removal tool.

Thanks for the replys guys, and sorry for taking so long to post back .. He had Norton on his system , and download AVG without deleting Norton first .
Download the Norton removal tool , then cleaned what i thought was the remaining files in the reg . did a hi jack this , then went into sys even manger .
Norton had deleted 3 Socket files needed to get on the net . after i download and installed them he is fine . he is up and running , and i'm down and stopped . Thanks for the replys . Hope this info can help someone else who trys to remove Norton .
