    Question No Sound Device

My computer got a huge virus or something and would not turn on, so I took it to my school's IT help desk. They fixed it but they had to wipe out my whole system. When I got it back I had no sound device at all on my computer. I tried a system restore but it won't let me go back to before my computer got fixed. How do I install a new sound device?

Go to the Device Manager and click the + next to Sound/Audio/Video

See what is listed there and if there's any yellow

To get into Device Manager: Right click "My Computer" then click "Manage" and then choose "Device Manager"

Also look for any listing named "Other" or any listing with a yellow question mark next to it.

If you find sound there, right-click it and choose "update Driver" or Install driver" whichever is given to you.

After you do that, reboot and see if your system has sound.

    Whats your motherboard BTW?

If you don't know, check its manual or if you don't have that then download CPU-Z from the link in my sig and then run it. Under motherboard it will give you the manufacturer and the model.

Thank you for your help. Actually, I solved the problem about an hour or two after I posted it. I found a website and downloaded a Driver. Thanks anyway though!

You're welcome. Thats exactly what I was thinking. If your drive is formatted you loose the drivers on there aswell.
