My desktop internet connection speed is really slow and pages never finsh loading while my laptop is fine and runs nicely

i just restore my desktop so there shouldnt be any adware or virus

Does the desktop indicate that it has an Internet Connection?

By restore do you mean you reinstalled XP from the CD? If so did you reinstall SP2 (if it wasn't on the CD)?

ya it says its connected
and it has service pack 2 on

As a first response I would suggest following the instructions in this post and post a HijackThis log in that section (not in this one please).

If they give you an all clear then we can pursue other possibilities but their inspection of your log would be the most expedient approach.
