Is this a new problem? Were things working OK previously? Any new hardware or software?
If this is a new problem try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:
start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
.

hello i went to that system restore but it didnt seem to let me go back it was stuck on yesterdays date i tried it last night and when i tried to move backward to select another date it wouldnt let me.
the problem started about a month or so ago it was new. about that time someone on a message board said my signature when i posted, had caused their pc to crash i dont know whether that was anything to do with it.

Hi,
Select the numbers that are highlighted i.e.

Here's a screenshot of my own system restore points. Note for this month I only have four made, one today and three from four days before. See the highlighted ones in bold? Those are the Restore Points. If you don't have such highlighted and bolded numbers you probably have System restore and checkpoint creation turned off or deleted.
You can also check if you have any Restore Points by clicking on the arrows on the left calendar box, the left arrow to see if previous months had any saved. If it doesn't allow you backwards you won't have any I'm afraid.
So do you see any numbers in bold? If you do click on them and Restore to that date.

how do i turn system resore on please do u think this will solve it if i manage to do a system restore.
-
If your System Restore is not On then no points were recorded.
The on/off switch for System Restore is found via right clicking My Computer then click Properties then the System Restore tab.
You might also check your Device Manager for any yellow exclamation points.
Right click My Computer then click Manage then Device Manager
What is listed in the Device Manager under Display adapter? (click the +)

it was the mouse after all that not a system restore just to update.

Thanks for the update.
Glad you got it sorted.
