    no sound at all

i was told to post in the xp help forum now that my browser and virus problem seems to be fixed...

so i did as instructed and its rid of my browser problem where i was always redirected when i opened, however i get this popup on the bottom right stating new PCI device found which comes up everytime i start up and if i click install it just says could not install pci device.... im also still not getting anysound but windows media player now says

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."

which is better than the error code i used to be getting, however the icon on the bottom right for volume is also still missing and my speakers arent getting detected.

Do you have a PCI Sound Card or is your audio on the motherboard?

What is the make and model of the computer?

If it was custom built what is the make and model of the motherboard?

is there an easy way to check that? its not custom made, its a windows xps200 and i havent installed any seperate videocards or sound cards so i'd assume its probably built in but is there an easy way to check?

the audio driver didnt really do anything, it just says

"The audio device supported by this application is not detected. The application will exit."

my speakers still arent being detected for some reason.

    "installation failed!
The audio driver files do not support your computer hardware.
note: if you uninstalled audio software without restarting your PC, restart now, then run this setup again."
