if you have win xp home or profesianal, please go to the following link: https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206...2kxp-36758.exe

That is the correct driver and software for your graphics card

I am not sure if I have onboard grafics... how do I check that?
(it is a fujitsusiemens Celsius H 230 notebook)

The error message displayed is in danish, but it would be something like:

"the installationprogram could not find components, there could be installet in the hardware- or softwareconfiguration. please check if you have the nececery hardware or software"

just to clarify: when you change resolution, you get a small picture on your screen and the rest of the area is black??

do you have an xp disk?

if so, insert it (whilst holding shift- this stops the autoload) click start>run and type in sfc /scannow

    press enter or ok

if you get an error message, i would sugest trying a repair install (im not too sure but it could be a corruption in a windows file)
