    Random BSOD/Stop Errors

Ok so my computer's been working fine, then for some reason I started getting BSOD's with random stop errors (codes are always different and always points to a different file, the last one didn't even point to a file). I thought this was a RAM problem so I replaced it and it still happens (I ran Memtest+ for 6 hours on this ram so I know its good) I updated my video card drivers, sound card drivers, and chipset drivers and it still happens, and at random. Sometimes I'll be playing a game, sometimes running a program (or attempting to, it will happen as the program is loading), or it may just happen out of the blue. I'm reasonably good with computers but this has stumped me and its really aggravating.. Please Help!

Do you have the dumps saved?

    Check in C:\Windows\Minidump

You'll need them for analysis. Have you any idea of what the codes read on the Blue screen?

Also check Event Viewer (Start>Run>eventvwr>enter) for errors under everything that there by right clicking and choosing properties each item.

On a side note, have you ran chkdsk (start>run>chkdsk /f)?
Have you ran sfc /scannow? (same as ^but replace it with these words)

You'll need your XP CD handy and I suggest you do so.

    Here's the what the event viewer says: "Error code 1000000a, parameter1 00000000, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 804ed356."

    or this one :"Error code 100000d1, parameter1 00000060, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 f77624df."

There's several of these, all different. I have minidumps but I don't know how to read them, if I open them with WordPad they are just a bunch of squares and gibberish. I ran chkdsk on all drives with no errors found, i'll try that sfc /scannow and see if it does anything.

ok I ran scf / scannow and it didn't do anything?

    Do you have Zonealarm?

Here's your first place to troubleshoot BSoD's: http://www.howtofixcomputers.com/bb/ftopic172136.html

For a Blue Screen of Death you need to follow this procedure (courtesy of Jephree):

In order to get details please do the following:

Go to start | search (type in) .dmp
Note the location of your .dmp files.
If there are no .dmp files then Search for: minidump
Remember this location and the path that leads to it.

(OR my way is Goto C:\WINDOWS and then search for Minidump and if it has files in it)

    Then:

    1) Download and install the Debugging Tool from Microsoft

All you need do is download and install this. Make no attempt to start or run it.

    2) Download and install this debugwiz

This is a DOS based batch file that will command the above Microsoft Tools.

    3) Open the Debugwiz & Browse to, or paste in the path to, your .dmp file.

    4) After the Wiz creates a Text document attach it back to this thread.

If you are looking for links on how to interpret this data for yourself try here first: http://www.wd-3.com/archive/registercontext.htm

Ok here's the .txt from my minidump (I have like 25-30 of these, so I just used the latest one):

You have a driver issue. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314063

    The DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID: DRIVER_FAULT
    http://adopenstatic.com/cs/blogs/ken...0_-Part-2.aspx

    Follow that with the debugger.

Before that, update all your drivers from your motherboard manufacturers website and for your hardware.

If one of them produces errors then they can always be "rolled back" but this is showing your drivers to be faulty. Also what programs do you use most often when this happens? Like Norton for instance...

If its not the device drivers, then its your software drivers in conflict.

Next time you get a BSoD write all its info down. Otherwise we can't know which driver it is for sure. xxxx.sys are drivers.

ok well i just ended up reformatting (was running low on space anyway) and it still happens

This time I don't get a filename, just a error code 0x0000008E. There's nothing on this computer except the internet, firefox, and Steam (a game program). What the heck???
