CPU and Page File Usage [RESOLVED]
Hi, Recently my pc has been stalling a bit upon loading programs and internet pages. And when I open Task Manager at look at the 'perfomance' tab I see that my 'File Page Usage' is quite high sometimes as high as 456MB. Iwas wondering what the average usage is and how high should it go before there's cause for concern?
On the process tab it shows iexplorer.exe running at approx - cpu 04
mem usage 48,000
and explorer.exe running at approx - cpu 09
mem usage 22,000
which I thought were quite high! What do you think?

I suggest rebooting your computer and then compare the data.
Rebooting usually clears or lowers your Page File.
Mine runs @ 250MB after a new boot.

After reboot it does return to lower CPU and PF, but it does go back up after using a few programs ie.. internet explorer, MSN
straight away internet explorer runs at upto 40 cpu and upto 40.000 mem usage explorer using upto 16000 mem is that normal

My Mem Usage for IE is 45,000 and for explorer it is 29,000
My CPU usage for both is 0% when I am idle.
That being said it is your CPU usage that is abnormal.
Do you run Adaware and Spybot? If not you should try that. This link will have downloads and instructions plus HijackThis details if you want to run a log by our Security Pros:
Please follow the instructions HERE & then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.

OK thanks my CPU isn't constantly high it does change from vary from 0 up to 40/50%, but my mem usage is not abnormal which was the thing I was worried about so thats good. I will however run the programs see if it finds anything.
Thanks for help

After a reboot, mine will run at 180MB. At full flow with Firefox and Thunderbird open, Firefox taking 110MB and Thunderbird 40MB, around 7 tabs and an Image Editor open, anti-virus etc, I'm usually at 330MB maximum.
My CPU usage is usually 2% to 20% for the odd command.
100% for running a scan or an anti-spyware etc. IE usually takes 25MB on mine and explorer.exe takes 28MB at usual.
Just for comparison.
