This is an example of another computer and issue but it should work here.

Are your speakers plugged into the upper arrow region or the lower?

That would indicate that you have a PCI Sound Card.

Therefore the Intel motherboard drivers are not working.

If you removed the PCI Sound Card the Intel drivers should work on the motherboard ports.

Otherwise you need to identify the make and model of your PCI Sound Card.

About the only way to do this is to open the computer and look at it for an identifying label or ask the person who might have installed it.

It requires opening up the case yes.

How you do this depends on the make and model of the computer.

You might want to ask a friend or family member for assistance.

    Also be aware of ESD:

    Did you open the case?

What we really need is like: Creative Sound Blaster xyz 1234 etc.

Creative being a major manufacturer of sound cards just for example.

If you did open the case then try removing the card and plugging into the Intel motherboard ports.

Please refer back to the ESD post if you go in to remove your card in order to prevent damage from static discharge.
