BAD Lag

BAD Lag
sunday my computer was turned off , when I went to turn it on everything started up ok except when i clicked to log in. Nasty sluggish lag (20 minutes )
slowed my logging in. I can see all my icons and my background picture but the computer takes a long time to load and get set up.
************************************************** *******
I have Cox High Speed Internet security suite for virus defence. Sometimes when i log on ( before my lag problem) i could not see my icons. So i pulled up task manger to see what is going on. The only thing running is cox security suite. I hit end process and then i get a message saying *Cox security suite is busy now to process your request* I have to turn off my computer by pressing the button and then when i log back on everything is fine.

Now back to the lag problem. So my computer is thinking with the hour glass as the mouse. I pull up task manger and i see cox secrity suite and task manger. I hit end process on Cox and it takes a very long time for it to end.(takes a while to get the task manger up and running too.) While cox is supposed to be ending, the status of Cox Security and Task manger switches back and forth from "Not Responding" to " Running". after minutes of waiting for cox to close and when it finally closes, everything goes back to normal. The computer seems to be fine once cox is closed. But this lag just happens when you log in and out. If you leave it on the computer is fine and just as fast as ever. I do my virus checks that you guys recommend. Again this just started last sunday.

Since this is a new problem try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:
start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
If that doesn't help disable all aspects of the Cox Suite from starting via start Run... msconfig | Startup
If that resolves the problem then you might want to uninstall the Cox Suite and reinstall or else choose alternatives.
