Unhappy boot problems, getting this screen error(photo)

hi all,i'm having big problems booting my comp.

the two pics above are the same screen(to make it clearer to read i split it into two pics)
i'm a novice at the workings of computers but i had a look anyway.i pressed .del which took me to something i'd never seen before(a computer "buff" screen)there was a tab that said advanced, where i noticed a command to reset default configuration, which i pressed.this allowed my comp to boot up,but when my comp is switched off,the same routine starts again(warning screen).i dont know why it's doing this or even what i did to get it to work.
i'm running wXP SP2,256 ram 80 gig HDD,900mg celeron processor.any help greatly appreciated.
    thanx...Daz.

p.s...hope the links work, not familiar with doing this!!

    just checked...the links work

You're getting a "stuck key" error. As a first step, try a different keyboard.

If your bios is set to halt on all errors you will still get a keyboard error booting without a keyboard attached, and the system will stop.

Are all the errors you're getting keyboard related, or are there different error messages?

hi dan,the keyboard error is the same one every time.but on a different subject,i,ve also had a problem with firefox, which, when installed in the usual directory(crograms)performs very erraticlly, but when installed elsewhere(c:my documents)it is fine.also can hear a slight clicking noise coming from HDD when it sticks at the warning screen stage.i have a feeling that it is all HDD related. thanx Daz.

I'm guessing the scan code for qwerty keyboards as default has the F8 key as key 42. Maybe its that, I'm not sure at all.
