hi people, i wonder if anyone can help me? Ive been having major problems with my rear mic on my pc, when i stick the mic in the jack at the rear of my pc the pc detects that theres something there and says that this my rear mic, but for some reason the mic does't pick up any sound at all, now ive checked everything sound wise on the volume control everythings working fine and the volume is up, ive also checked any kind of mute button, and everything is fine but yet the mic is still not picking up any sound. The mic has worked perfectly fine in my pc before so i just don't understand whats happening with it at all. Ive seaked some advice from friends about this but they are as confused as i am, one person did mention reinstalling my sound card devices but ive got no idea on how to do this. Can someone please help me with this i'm despearte to get my mic working as soon as, so please help anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks

Have you checked the settings under start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Voice

As to drivers: are you using a PCI sound card or your on-board audio?

If the former what is the make and model of the card? If the latter what is the make and model of the computer? If custom built what is the make and model of the motherboard?

yes i have checked all settings under control panel/sounds and audio devices/voice and everything is working properly aparently!
i did have untill today have an onboard audio device but have now installed a 5.1 pci sound card(PCL-SC5100), i installed this sound card thinking that my onboard audio wasn't working and therefor was the reason for the mic not working but however after installing the pci sound card the mic still doesn't work but the other sounds do. I have checked everything is on in the mixer and audio devices and i have checked that the sound card is working properly, i just seem to have the exact same problem with the mic as before, please help me with this its killing me lol!!!

I have the SAME PROBLEM! This is driving me nuts! Been going on for 4 weeks now and I have tried everything possible! Still...no voice OUT...only voice IN. This is for every thing on my pc....recording device, Skype...
I need this fixed and I need to make numerous sound bytes. PLEASE HELP!!! ANYBODY???

have you tried the mic in a different pc?

may sound stupid but are you sure you are plugging it into the mic socket (usually pink) and not the line in socket (usualy blue)

Hey!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for trying to help me! I'm SO GLAD to get some feedback on this problem. I gave up trying to fix the usb mic/speakers in one. Speakers work fine. I got an external mic and plugged it into pink..nothing..had almost given up on that one too until..out of the blue I thought what the heck...and tried plugging into green ?? which is for headsets..but now the external mic DOES WORK..even tested out fine. BUT...after I record my voice....there is no playback..yeah..i've checked the volume on everything and mute...all fine there. I can hear everything and everybody...music..etc..just cannot hear my own voice recordings..which by the way is the ONLY thing i need to use it for. Any suggestions?
