Just loaded my new Neverwinter Nights 2 game with updates, however when i go to play the game i get a message saying that it could not find any compatible 3D Direct Devices. is there a solution to this as my Sony Vaio laptop played all the previous NWN games without any issues or do i have to pay for something else.

If you have Windows XP:

Run the DirectX Diagnostics utility, DXDIAG.
Click on Start -> Run and enter dxdiag into prompt box. This is the best way to check your system functioning with regards to multimedia especially.

Go to the variant tabs and run the tests. Look for the "Problems" and "Conflicts" section in the notes towards the bottom portion of the screen.

If your missing something, something is not functioning correctly OR if you haven't got version 9.0, the latest: download it from here and make sure to run the tests afterwards:

run all tests as advised, all report no problem. i am running xp and i hav version 9.0c of direct x installed so still a no go.... thanks for advice though.

seems my processor should be a minimum of 3ghz and is only 1.73 so looks like a new computer to play this game. ty for help
