Thanks in advance to anyone that can help!
Ok, I'll try to make this concise, but there is a lot of detail to include:
My computer: IBM Thinkpad R40 laptop, Pentium M 1.66 Centrino, model 2897, purchased 2003
What caused the problem: I decided to upgrade my RAM myself. After removing the two PC2100 256 mb sticks, I replaced with a new Kingston PC2700 KVR333SO/1GR 1gb stick
The problem: The day after I "upgraded" the RAM my computer froze, I restarted it and Windows would not start. I got a message stating that a Windows\system32 file was missing
I tried all sorts of things, eventually put the old RAM back in, and in the end had to reformat the hard drive.
Now: I updated my BIOS, all drivers, etc. and tried installing the new 1GB stick again. Within 15 minutes I got a blue screen that went by too fast to read (but it did say MEMORY_MANAGEMENT). Upon restart, I got an error dump message. Based on the advice from another thread, I got a debug log (shown below).
My Question: Can anyone tell me based on this dump if the RAM itself is not good or if my computer simply cannot handle the upgrade? What I am doing wrong? Thank you!

[tons more data followed here but I didn't paste it]
My first guess would be that the PC2700 is not compatible.
This from IBM/Lenovo
R40(Pentium 4 and Celeron models), R40e PC2100 DDR SDRAM 200-pin non-parity SoDIMM (1) 266MHz 1GB
R40 (Pentium M models) PC2100 DDR SDRAM 200-pin non-parity SoDIMM (1) 266MHz 2GB

Please post the entire dump. 1A with Pool Corruption is in general a RAM failure.
Also in more detail (RAM compatibility):

Thanks for the reply!
I was afraid that it was simply not combatible![]()
The thing is, when I analyzed my system with the crucial.com utility, this is exactly the type of RAM it suggested (but their own brand). They didn't even have the option of the slower ram. I wonder if Kingston will accept a return or if I'm just stuck with a $100 stick of useless RAM?
Here is the entire dump:

I am still seeing a Memory problem. If not bad RAM then something is not working with the RAM.
Do you have your RAM overclocked in the BIOS? Or any overclocking?
Are you familiar with MemTest?
http://www.memtest86.com/
Also if it is perhaps a driver conflicting with memory see this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/177415/EN-US/
Also any new dumps? What is the status of the computer? Can you boot it?
If so are the dumps always the same? Is the behavior always the same?
Can you boot into Safe Mode?
If you can run in Safe Mode it would point towards a driver issue rather than physical RAM.
I do note a reference in the dump to ati2evxx.exe (Graphics card add-on manager).
Also you might want to check your page file if you can get into XP:
