    How about this then !

    Hello everyone

I have two Pioneer DVD-RW DVR -11Ds. One of them has now decided it is a POEDDR DR10, it is even in the Control Panel 'System' with this odd name. It does not read disks when they are put into it.

May I ask, has anyone ever heard of this happening before please?

A search in Google brought up a foreign language site, which I cannot r4ead, except the POEDDR is mentioned in it.

    regards

PS I have replaced the POEDDR witha MSI DVD+- R +-RW machine.

Make sure that one is on master and the other is on slave.

Thank you Rickson. They are on 'M' and 'S.'

Actually, I do not think that not being on 'M' and 'S' would change the name of the hardware, willy-nilly ?

I have been using computers since DOS was the only operating system, and I have never even seen or heard of this problem before. I will cut along to the MS Knowledge Base and see wheteher it/they know anything about it.

Have you tried uninstalling the drive in the Device Manager then rebooting?

XP should then see it as a new drive. It would be interesting to see what it sees.

Thank you jephree. I am a bit loathed to try that as everything seems to be working OK with the new drive.

Might try it on my wife's machine ! Oh! Oh! Oh! who am I kidding?
