When the cd is inserted and runs up all I get is a window heading LIVECD and two sub heading ISOLUX & GPARTED. Highlighting ISOLUX brings up

You need to boot the CD.

Verify that your BIOS is set to boot the CD prior to the hard drive then insert the CD and restart the computer.

The LiveCD runs on its' own outside of Windows.

Most BIOS Setup options are accessible by pressing the Delete key right after powering on. Some use F2. In the BIOS Setup look for a Boot tab then Boot Order and set the CD prior to the HDD.

OK got to boot order but no heading to set cd prior to hdd. following are the headings I have >Diskette drive >Internal hdd >cd/dvd/cd-rw drive I know I must be a bit of pain but I must be almost there. What now? Golfjack

Set the order thus:

1: Diskette drive

2: CD/DVD/CD-RW drive

3: Internal HDD

In general you highlight a line then use the up or down arrow key to move it in the order.

Once this is done you might be able to go straight to the XP Home CD.

If it boots it should not care what is on the harddrive and should reformat it itself using a Clean Install.

If not then use the GParted first.
