When you choose "Save As" in the lowest box click to open it and navigate to JPEG. Then save.

You need to go to tools/internet options and choose delete files. This should clear the temporary internet files and restore the jpeg option. If you choose save as bitmap do they save correctly?

I have Firefox 2 with all extra's cleared on my computer and I've experienced the same problem in MS Photo Editor. You only get three options to save as: bmp, tif or pcs IIRC.

What I did is just open it up with paint after saviong it as BMP and convert to JPEG.

IT is a hassle though and any further help would be welcome.

As Tassie Devil points out this problem in IE is caused by too many temporary files as seen here:

This issue may occur if either of the following conditions is true:
    • This issue may occur if your Temporary Internet pages cache is full.
    • This issue can occur if you have "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" selected in Tools, Options, Advanced Tab and are loading the page over a secure connection (https).
