Re: Windows Explorer errors
Iv posted the necessary logs in the relevant section.
I'm in SafeMode and my computers running perfectly right now, even with avast! Sgmain, sguard, Spyware Blaster and Advanced Spyware Remover.
So what could this be?
A virus?
Thanks

I've done them few scan and cleans as you know. Am back into normal mode in windows and its so far working perfectly - winlogon.exe is still running.
And I'm not getting program crashes either....
Still testing to see what happens next.
Thanks for all

Got it fixed!
I installed all the security patches for XP Pro and ran the MS scanning tool.
Also, I rebooted staright after and ran RegistryMechanic (only have trial version) and found 92 errors. Mostly missing files...
I don't know how to delete them, anyone any idea's?
I found out avast! picked up this: http://www.eset.com/threat-center/pe...32/pariteb.htm
But I couldn't click on its button to delete it or anything. So far it had only embedded itself in my temporary files but it was THIS that was destroying the windows explorer which is where it creates its registry key.
I ran a through scan and it picked it up immediately! I permanently deleted it obviously and now am trying to figure out how it got there in the first place!
I'm running my avast! Through scan now and it reads "Scanner Status: Infected"
So there's more to it than I have picked up thus far.
It was exactly this that was stopping my Windows Installer from starting! So I couldn't basically navigate a CD or start it. Autorun also failed and I couldn't start Office XP CD for the MS Photo Editor. But now I clicked on its start menu link and it required the CD. I put it in, it loaded some files and voila! Bobs the good uncle. All is loaded on, with MS Photo Editor perfectly functioning.
I'm getting no explorer and winlogon or any other program crashes now!
I gotta get to some serious work now with viruses.
Thanks anyone with any advice
