    Re: Driver problem?

Yes I had the same error. Its caused when the boot files on the CD or setudd. is not loaded/found/corrupt. As the error you are recieving with booting, even if you did bootup with this CD, it would fail midway in later stages which can completely corrupt your system.

A copy of the CD is required.

"A copy of the CD is required" ?
Do you mean a retail version of the CD is required?
And if I bought an external floppy, those would allow me to do a recovery installation?

A retail version, yes, or at least a functional CD with your original Product Key.

The floppies will allow you to use the Recovery Console. These are a series of very limited tools that may be able to fix the current installation.

    BOOTFIX
    CHKDSK
    FIXMBR

    etc.

To run either a Repair or Clean Installation you need a CD with proper key.

Is there a way to find my Windows Serial Number/Key?
And if I ordered a CD, it would work without me having my Product Key?

What is the make and model of the computer? Do you see any labels on it?

Look on the side of the case or back or bottom etc.

The manufacturer might have other options or ideas.

Otherwise without being able to boot XP there is no way to find the key.

Any new copy of XP will come with a new key.

Not sure if this is any help at all, but I saw someone else post their error code.
I just tried to start it up, and it struggled, but let me log in, and I saw the desktop, followed by a blue screen that said:
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    STOP: (0xFFDFB7SE, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x804EC6C9)

Such errors are hard to pin-point unless you have access to the operating system. That being said:

    0x0000000A: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
(Click to consult the online Win XP Resource Kit article, or see Windows 2000 Professional Resource Kit, p. 1539.)
Typically due to a bad driver, or faulty or incompatible hardware or software. Use the General Troubleshooting of STOP Messages checklist above. Technically, this error condition means that a kernel-mode process or driver tried to access a memory location to which it did not have permission, or at a kernel Interrupt ReQuest Level (IRQL) that was too high. (A kernel-mode process can access only other processes that have an IRQL lower than, or equal to, its own.)
