Safe Mode will only load the drivers that XP needs to boot. Nothing else.
Yes your right! Thanks.
I disabled it and I was able to startup.
Ive now uninstalled it completely. No BSoD now at all.
I have to get it back again now from the ECS website, but how would that make a difference when I originally downloaded it from there a few days back?
I've got this as a startup that I don't understand:
ITEM NAME: Load (no icon, no value, unknown) No file folder yet is in the Registry!
EDIT: I've got the others.
I was about to delete this but I refrained as I don't know what it is.
Its in the software section.
BTW my CPU usage is at 96-100% and its Firefox that is taking up 96!

Jephree,
Keeping the Audio drivers that come with Windows and not installing the ones made for the mobo from ECS worked perfect. The ones from ECS are the ones Cmud.sys etc.
Isn't that weird?
I've had NO issues at all with BSoD's after uninstalling the ECS C-Media driver for this mobo.
I've just dealt with a hibernate issue where I know my mobo/BIOS supports it but I wasn't able to check the option to enable "with process in use by another" sort of window message.
Deleted the D: hiberfil.sys file in and rebooted. It allowed me to hibernate this time.
However I noticed it was slow to startup - and then Firefox kept crashing even in Safemode. It showed that there is a "failing memory address" so I knew it was definitely the hibernate probelm NOT the OS or any software. A reboot and FF worked just perfect.
Anyone any idea's why the above error is produced after hibernation?
[it seems like RAM to me]
Also, a previous question unanswered: If I change the Boot.ini file timout to 15 instead of the default 30, would that make my bootup time half as slow?
Thanks much.![]()
I see some issues regarding firewalls when resuming from hibernation.
Also:
The boot timeout relates to multi-boot options. This is how long the boot menu will be displayed. It can be changed but unless you have multiple boot drives and are seeing the boot menu asking which system to boot it will not change anything. Please check the event log for "ACPI" problems. You can access it by going
to Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer. It would be listed
under system. If you see any ACPI errors please export them and reply to
this message with them attached. Thanks!
Thanks Jephree.
That fills another empty gap of mine.
Yes, I always check EventViewer first after any errors now.
There's no error of such in it. Theres only Epson and Diskkeeper Pro switching off unexpectedly errors and thats because I manually stopped the processes.
I had the Sunbelt kerio firewall off. Only the PS2 firewall was on.
Stumped again![]()
Well just to inform you all, as per my profession I get next to no time for extra activities... (explains my diminishing/ed computer knowledge)
But this was a massive problem plaguing me.
Recently, when I was able to buy out some time.. I built a AMD 4800 X2 with 2GB RAM and a 3GB SATA drive with an LG Blu-ray recroder on the way
Thats with a good QXGA sceen given by my work place too
Now here's how I resolved the below problems...
After some reading and testing... I had a FULL DUMP (note: not minidump)
(oops I seem to have lost the dump - I'll find it and post back ASAP with what I did)
