    ractive,

Here download, first unzip and then run this software: CPU-Z v1.37

It will give you all the required details to your computer.

Here's more info on it from the main website:

Don't you know if it is a Dell or HP for example? Or custom built?

Look on the case for labels.

Also what recovery disks do you have?

Can you boot into Safe Mode?

Try booting into Safe Mode options:

After the power-on and BIOS POST or your Logo screen repeatedly tap the F8 key or hold the Ctrl key before Windows starts.

If not boot the CD into the Recovery Console and try FIXBOOT

    http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;314058

If that doesn't work try FIXMBR

    Or then bootcfg /rebuild

If still no luck try a Repair Install as seen here:

Check that your BIOS is set to boot the CD-ROM prior to the HDD.

    Then boot the XP CD.

From my previous post you will see options from the Recovery Console.

Next you will see options for a Repair Install.

If none of the above work you can run a Clean Install which will format your hard drive.

    The previous steps will not.

If your data is absolutely vital then I suggest you remove the hard drive and slave it in another computer in order to extract the data.
