Hi there, my old Windows 98 machine crashed badly, I managed to remove the hard drive and slave it into another machine and then recover the old e-mails in the form of .dbx files which are now stored on a CD.

I now have a new XP machine running Microsoft Office Outlook and would like to be able to retrieve and open the e-mails and any attachments from the .dbx files, any ideas how I can achieve this??

All you should need to do is pop the cd in, open outlook and choose file/import. Browse through the wizard to where the .dbx files are and import.

Thanks, I tried that, went to file - import/export - and then selected 'import from another program or file' but then there is no .dbx file option! any ideas??

You should choose import messages from outlook express which will give the option to import from an OE store directory. Then just browse for .dbx files.
