Angry Automatic immediate log off XP as soon as I log in

I have looked at similar threads on this board, but none of the solutions presented work.

As soon as I log in, the screen shows the wallpaper, but no icons. It then saves user settings and logs off.

I CAN log in safe mode with and without network.

I have updated both Ad-Aware and SpyBot in safe+ network mode with the latest files, run both, and have no malaware it can detect.

The Winlogon registry entry is correct.

Blaze is not on this system.

I tried to repair the system using the original CD. The repair completed ok, but still have the same problem.

Don't know where to go from here.

Yes, can see icons in safe mode.

    Yes, can create new accounts.

    New accounts suffer same problems.

do you feel confident in opening up the case?

if you do check all the cards and cables are seated correctly.

be careful with ESD when inside the case
