I have a dell pc running windows xp professional which is refusing to go into standby.

It has a CTX touchscreen monitor and the options are set to go into standby after 1 hour.

Ive done a bit of research but cant find anything which solves the problem.

Any suggestions please?

Resetting the Power options often fixes such problems.

For example reset it to standby after 1/2 hour and see if it does.

If it does then change it back to 1 hour and it should work.

I tried your suggestion but it hasnt worked - still wont go into standby, even if the setting is 5 minutes.
