Hi This is my first post on this site so please be gentle.

I'm having problems with my GATEWAY laptop as the screen has stopped working (I am wired up to a desktop monitor at the moment) A few weeks ago it stopped working but I noticed as I brushed my hand over the tiny plastic micro switch, which I believe closes the laptop down, it flickered on for a few seconds but after a few attempts it stopped altogether (over the past year I have noticed when opening the PC up the screen has a pink tinge radiating from the bottom which seemed to go once the picture was on)

IF I need to open up the PC (to expose the works) I am quite ignorant of how to go about it but would attempt it with some guidance.

As to a Gateway warranty it appears to be whatever option you paid for:

It sounds like/looks like a display failure or connections. The connections are all thru the hinges. Perhaps something is just loose.

Inserting you exact model into the Gateway site should show options.
