Some Registry files deleted - logon problem
At school a guy sitting next to me decided to delete some files from the registry and now when you get to the login screen and type in your info and press ok the desktop wont load and it just a (background color) screen. You can press ctrl alt delete to log off but nothing loads when you log in.
Is there any way to fix this? I would system restore but I doesnt have restore points. I also have administrator powers so thats no problem.

Try booting into Safe Mode options:
After the power-on and BIOS POST or your Logo screen repeatedly tap the F8 key or hold the Ctrl key before Windows starts.
Choose: Safe Mode
Does it boot into Safe Mode?
Also: what type of Recovery disks do you have?
-
It loads in safe mode but it does the same thing when I log on.
I dont have any recovery disk seeing its not my computer but my school wants me to help and fix it.

XP Home or Pro?
What is the make and model of the computer?
Whose computer is it? The school's? Do they not have an IT guy?
-
Pro, The schools, They have a IT guy but they want me to try and fix it before they call him because he is really busy on other things at the school.
-
At the login screen type Administrator and hit Enter.
-
I have the Administrator account and the password thats not the problem.
-
If the main Administrator account is corrupted then reinstalling XP is probably neccessary.
The main Administrator account should never be used except in cases of emergency to prevent reinstalltions due to account corruptions.

Alright then apparently there is nothing I can do. Ill leave it to the tech guy.
