SVCHost Problem - Help Please
Upon booting up I have recently started to get the following error message:
"svchost.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x745f2780" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".
Click OK to terminate the program
Click cancel to debug the program"
I also get a box pop up headed:
"Generic Host Process for Win32 Services
Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. "
I am offered opportunity to debug or send error report etc.
Whatever I do does not seem to mae any difference it reappears the next time I boot up. Additionally I am now unable to get on to my network although I can connect to the net through the same hub!!
I have tried system restore to when was working ok through Windows XP but makes no difference.
I am running Windows XP professsional.
Any ideas on what is wrong and how to rectify, especially getting back on the network?
Many thanks

Try booting into Safe Mode options:
After the power-on and BIOS POST or your Logo screen repeatedly tap the F8 key or hold the Ctrl key before Windows starts.
Choose: Safe Mode with Networking
This should allow you to get on-line. If this works we can deduce that these errors are emanating from a third party program other than XP.
