Strange situation with a portable haard drive...
Hello. I use a portable hard drive with my laptop, and recently I began clearing some files off of it to free up space. There is a folder named 'Esl', I don't know what it's for or what's in it, but whenever I click on it, the Windows Explorer locks up. I tried to right-click on it to look at its properties, but it seems if I interact with it in any way at all, the Windows Explorer locks up. I ran a Windows search for it to see if I could at least view its properties, but that window locks up too as soon as I go to interact with this folder in any way. It's very strange, and I'm concerned. I hope I've described the situation well enough. Anybody have any insight into what the deal is with this? Otherwise, the portable hard drive seems to work great. Thanks!

Adobe loads an Esl file: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Esl
Also: An ESL file is an "Extended Support Library" file, much like a "DLL" or other external library.

Do you know how I might remove it? Acrobat crashed a while back, causing me to have to do a system restore and rebuild my registry (the results of which are still affecting my computer, though not in serious ways), so this stupid folder must be the source of all my ills. Do you know how I might remove it, since the machine locks up every time I even click on it?

Jephree, firstly, thank you for your help. You also helped me with my other post on this forum, and I appreicate the time you're taking to consider my situation. I downloaded and installed the MoveonBoot utility, but when I tried to select the 'Esl' file, the utility came back with "is not accessible. The semaphore timeout period has expired." I looked online for this phrase, but couldn't find anything I could make sense of. Does this offer up any clues? I'm sorry to be so much trouble!

I see that error as a networking file sharing error.
Just as another quick shot try this app:

And thanks for the kind words!
