    im a bad,bad girl

    i unfortunately have done something i have shouldn't....i was on my laptop trying to fix the windows installer probler and i went into the :"msiexec/unreg" from the start menu. now my computer wont boot up at all...all i get is 24 lines of simuilar messages--like this...multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows \system32\drivers\compbatt.sys
    " \battc.sys \aliide.sys
    \pciideex.sys
    \pcmia.sys
    \mountmgr.sys
    \ftdisk.sys
    \partmgr.sys
    etc,etc.etc

    i was also trying the regsvr32 vjscript.dll and the regsvr32 vbscript.dll options from the start menu.so now i've really screwed things up, can anyway help me to restore my compac presario 2100 laptop back to running normally??? i can access the startup menu, but icouldn't utilize anything in there to help me and when i try to go into the f8 options, when i try to get the command prompt to work,again all i get is the 24 lines of messages. help

    From F8 options did you try Last Known Good Configuration?

    Or did you try a System Restore?

    start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

    i tried the f8 last known config...and the screen did not change anything...i went thur the prompts and then the 24 lines of stuff came back..and i cant get into any kind of screen to intiate appling a system restore.....before all this happen, i was having a few little problems and i tried to use my recover disks but that didn't work because their been too many updates applied to my laptop
    is it possible to download and/or burn a cd in able to restore programs from the win xp home os on the laptop, i've heard their is a difference in using the desktop recovery cd's and using them on a laptop is that true??? i get the feeling im going to have to go out a purchase a new win xp cd and reapply it or see if i can beg the computer store guys to apply the win xp cd that was installed with the laptop when i bought it..

    Can you ID your specific laptop from this list:

    You generally need the Recovery disks that came with the laptop or there might be a Recovery partition with a hotkey. If you can ID the model then the manual or FAQ should have the options available.
