    Thumbs down Sound Problem

    Hi All;
    A real poser(at least for me)----Whenever I open a WMV or WVX attachment in Outlook Express,the sound starts for about 5 seconds,then quits.Picture ok.Everything else works ok for sound,CD's,power point slide shows etc.In order to restore the sound I have to restart the system.I have windows media player 10 which up to the last week was working ok.(I haven't made any changes to the system).

    All help gratefully appreciated from this newbie

    Try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:

    start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

    If this doesn't help reinstall WMP 10 on top of itself.

    Look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
    Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
    Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for red X errors. Click error line for details.
    Post back the source & event id & Description especially of errors that seem to coincide with this issue.
    Also check the Information lines that might coincide with this issue.

    How to view and manage event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP

    Hi;
    I have many red x'es over 3 months,and when I click on the error line on most of them,it shows
    SOURCE-Automatic Liveupdate S
    Event-101

    Description says..................Information level error and internet connection not detected

    Should I be looking for something pertaining to windows media player,or what??

    Try to force the error and note the time. Then see if any error was recorded at that time.

    Is this only an issue via OE?

    Can you move the attachment to My Videos (for example) and play it from there?
