Belarc Advisor gave 1.88/10 for Windows security ??
Hi everyone. I have a problem with Microsoft updates.
I have a Windows XP pro CD but not the one I installed off originally. That was stolen from me at University. Now everytime I click to obtain updates, it reaches a stage where it asks for inserting Windows XP CD with Frontpage. I insert the one I have (no frontpage) and nothing happens at all!
It says file not found etc, and until I can get that CD nothing further can be done. Installation failed!
Before this I wasn't connected to the internet so I never checked.
Recently I've checked and I'm missing MANY security patches, like around 30 - they are all Microsoft released ones, nothing else!
So can comeone assist or guide me here with this problem.
I'd be very grateful thanks!

XP doesn't have front page, that's part of office
was you original copy of XP genuine?
-
Yes it was as I ran a check from the Microsft website a year ago and it was authenticated.
With the Frontpage, yes that is exactly what it asks me for and thats why I'm stumped.
It recently occurred when installing Microsft updates: Service pack 3 (which is for office I reckon)
But why should it bring this up when Windows is updating?

have you got XP office on the machine?

have you got the XP office disc, that could be what it's asking for

Yes I do. Should I reinstall it or just put that disc in when getting to that stage?
Reinstallation may delete my files/setup scattered around the comp so I'm hesistant.
