I really need help on how to solve this as it hasn't been long since I formatted it, and I don't want to do it again I would really aprecitate any further help you can give

you could try using system restore to go back to a time when the problem didnt occur. you will need to go into safe mode for this. or you could repair XP. have a look in the tutorials section for a walkthrough. out of interest was this the reason you formatted last time?

Ok I found a restoration cd and I can boot of it but the tutorial confused me a little bit. When I insert the disk and boot off it it loads some files then gos to a blue screen with different options.
    • To set up windows xp now, press enter
    • To repair a windows xp inslallation using recovery console
    • To quit setup without installing windows xp, press f3

Which option should I choose(I dont think it's the second one as I had a warning about it on another site)

The tutorial also mentions that I need a windows serial number. Where can I find this number?

    PLZ HELP,,, AGAIN!!!!

Don't know if you got this resolved yet, but if you go to the task manager (CTRL-SHIFT-ESC), then go to the APPLICATIONS tab, then click on NEW TASK you can start Explorer. That will give you your desktop. Then do a normal shutdown and restart, and with any luck it will be back to normal.
