I recently bought a USB Flash Drive (512Mb) and when I plug it into the USB port the computer recognizes new hardware but then asks for drivers in the "Install Hardware" Wizard. I thought Windows XP did not need another driver for a Flash Drive?? I go through the install wizard but each time the hardware is not installed as the driver can't be found. All my existing USB devices work OK it just seems to be new ones that cause a problem. My PC is only 4 months old, has 3.2 GHz Pentium 4, 2 Gb RAM, 350 Gb Hard Drive etc. The flash drive works perfectly in another PC so I am tearing my hair out as I had the same problem when I tried to install a new VoIP handset!!!!!!
