i killed my computer and had to take it to someone. I stood in front and watched and don´t understand. He changed no hardware but i took it in as a Compaq Presario and bought back a HP Pavillion. What has he done. It works fine but I´m confused.
Second Outlook Express has suddenly started to come up with a message every time I close it down ´to free up disk space outlook express can compact messages. This may take a few moments´ I have never had this before, is it worth doing and how do i stop the message without actioning it.
Can anyone help with these 2 things. Trivial but annoying

where does it say HP Pavillion?

the Compaq Presario and HP pavillion are maybe the same machine just badge engineering.

Outlook Express will every now and then want to compact messages I get often

Compaq is an HP company, so maybe there's not much difference between your old and new laptop designations; but why don't you ask the person who changed it? - I always compact my Outlook Express messages as I keep thousands and it frees up disc space - it is not something to worry about and I have used it many times...regards

it used to start up with a big red Compaq screen now it starts with a big blue HP screen. I have also run Belarc and it says HP Pavillion, it used to say Compaq Presario. No problem just wandered how to change it so easily. The only thing i could think is that when it was a Compaq it was a spanish system i have now loaded XP in english and a lot of drivers didn´t load so perhaps he tweaked something to turn it into an english system. Running well at the moment so perhaps I shouldn,t 'wonder' anymore and just get on with it. Thanks for your help
