    Question trouble sending attachments

When I try to send attachments, they don't send. On my end, it says I did, but the attachments never go through. Also, I have a problem with links. When I click on them, nothing happens.........at least, some of the time. I think my computer is possessed!

Are you sure that the receiver is set to receive attachments?

You cannot open a new Internet Explorer window or nothing occurs after you click a link

You misunderstand me; this happens no matter who the receiver is. I have been sending attachments for years, and suddenly I can't do it; is there something I need to click or unclick?

Try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Also did you try the fixes included in the link above?

    • One or more of the following files is missing, damaged, or improperly registered:
    • Urlmon.dll
    • Mshtml.dll
    • Actxprxy.dll
    • Oleaut32.dll
    • Shell32.dll
    • Shdocvw.dll

I have tried all of the above, but to no avail. Now my Outlook Express keeps sending error messages.

What are the verbatim error messages?

the error message in my e-mail says: Your server has unexpectedly termindated the connection. Possible causes for this include werver problems, network problems or a long period of inactivity.

However that has nothing to do with my main concern: not being able to send attachments or click on links.

Do you have XP SP2? If so was it pre-installed on your computer? Or did you install it?

Or do you have XP SP1?

I would suggest reinstalling IE/OE but how you do this depends on whether you have XP or XP SP1 or XP SP2 as well as how you received SP2 if you have it.

The general Microsoft guide is here:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378/EN-US/

If you have SP2 and you installed it you need to uninstall it via start Add/Remove Programs

If it is not in that list then it was pre-installed and you would need to use your computer's Recovery disk.

If you still have SP1 the instructions are contained within the above link.

I printed out the instructions for the reinstalling, but I am very apprehensive about such a big step. I have used the Internet for a number of years, but in some ways I would just rather have someone who knows what they are doing to just do it for me.

Here is a link that you might browse for other options:

    http://groups.google.com/group/micro...chments&qt_g=1

You can also join that group and post your own question if you like. Or rephrase the search question.

I will gladly help you through a Repair process but perhaps you will find something in the above link in order to avoid it.
