I need help installing my sound drivers. The drivers for my computer (specifically RealTek AC'97) don't seem to be installing properly. Whenever I try to install them, it stops halfway through, restarting and causing a myriad of problems (Thank goodness for System Restore).

Are there any solutions to this problem? Maybe a different sound driver that also works?

Is this for an onboard audio card? Or a dedicated sound card?

Are you installing the drivers from CD or the internet?

I'm getting the drivers from the Internet.

I'm not so sure... How do I identify it?

The best general solution is to re-load your computer's audio drivers.

The best place to find these drivers is the computer manufacturer's web site.

Look for Downloads/Drivers/Audio for your exact computer model.

If your computer was custom built then the motherboard manufacturer is the best source.

If you need help in searching for the download please let us know and supply the exact make and model of the computer or motherboard.

Could you please define "re-load"?

You need to find the driver from the manufacturer and download it.

It is usually a .zip file that you will unzip (or Extract by right clicking the download). Then you just click on the Setup.exe
