i tried reinstalling real player a while ago and it didnt do anything to fix the problem. thank you for your efforts

could be a windows problem perhaps ??

insert your xp disk (if you have one) and click start run and type 'sfc /scannow'

this should detect any errors.

I'm having the exact same problem here.

Not the same machine details but the problem is exactly the same,
after few minutes/hours it's just like my soundcard disapears from the
machine.

But all the system sounds work perfect!
