monitor and sound problems
I have just reloaded xp into my computer. Everything was running smoothly before but i wanted xp in english(i had spanish)
Now my screen is set at 800x600 and everything is enormous. I canīt change it at all. It doesnīt scroll smoothly. I have been in the device manager which doesnīt have any display devices BUT in other devices has PCI driver, SM bus controller and video controller(vga compat) but all these are with a yellow ?and! mark. Also the speakers no longer work, They are plug and play and donīt have drivers. No drivers came with the monitor either. The screen is a Captiva 19" TFT-LCD E1902. Also xp has changed my drive names. DVD-RW was D: and is now I: and DVD/CD was E: and is now J: does that matter?
Thanks for any help

Hi download belarc advisor here and run, it should give you lots of details about your PC
it may tell what sound and video drivers you need
-
thanks, done that. It says i need loads of hot fixes which are important or critical. Is it one of these i need? (or all of them?) I canīt see where it says what drivers i need though
-
sorry, does this help?

you will need to get all the hotfixes.
I can't see what your motherboard is, when you go to the microsoft website to download the updates (I hope your on broadband) it may say update for you graphics and sound
-
is there something i can do so it updates all the hotfixes in one go or do i do each one individually?
-
hold on, these are all security updates. Donīt i need a sound and video driver, or something?
-
you will need all the security fixes, the sound and video will maybe on the site as well as updates.
-
got all the hotfixes now but still no good. Still no sound and a jumbo display. Would you have any other ideas? Iīve had a look at microsoft but to no avail.
-
I have found something about driver protection on Microsoft but donīt understand what it means. The page is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883775 Could this be along the right lines?
