i try to play music on itunes or windows media player and the songs won't play, and its not the speakers that aren't working because it doesn't even show that the music is playing, they can play video clips but no sound will come out , and the songs are fine if put on cd but on the pc it doesn't show that there playing. also sound on websites won't play either, either from games websites or youtube etc. help thank you

no the windows start up music doesn't play, theres no sound coming from the pc at all

Is this a new problem? Were things working OK previously? Any new hardware or software?

If this is a new problem try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore


Otherwise you may need to reload your audio drivers. The best place to do this is your computer manufacturer's web site. Look for Downloads/Drivers/Audio for your exact model.
