    Red face Wireless Connection

    Hope someone can help complete beginner -have PC connected to internet by BT broadband this works fine but I am trying to set up wireless connection to lap top and other pc using Belkin wireless router ,have followed instructions as they appear on screen for each pc and the connection status says I have a strong signal.Problem occurs when I try connect laptop or second pc to the internet ,I get the message ,cannot find server .Any advice welcome .

    have you connected the router to the modem,

    have you set it up using cables, does it work?

    This may seem a bit stupid but I don't know how to connect the router to the modem ,thought this would all happen when I used the windowas set up wizard.
    Is it easy to check they are connected ?

    what modem are you using, does it connect to the PC with ethernet or USB?

    sorry for being so thick but what is the difference between usb and ethernet? the connections from the belkin is like a telephone connection.

    Sorry me again just noticed written on front of Belkin modem...ADSL Modem with wireless G Router..if this helps!

    what model number is it?

    the connection from the modem to the PC is like a telephone connection, that'e Ethernet.

    the modem/router has a cable that comes from the router to the phone line, then how many y ports has the router got on the back labled LAN?

    belkin adsl modem with wireless-G router model #F5D7632-4

    it has 4 ports on back labelled connections to your computers which are ethernet

    a dsl line

    we have alcatel speedtouch connection for accessing orange broadband

    I hope this is enough info. I want to thank you so much for all your help so far;-)

    the modem/router should connect to the phone line, you shouldn't need the speedtouch

    how do i disconnect alcatel and how do i then access internet? sorry really thick!
