are you using any extension lead from where the phone enters the house to the router?

has the router got a reset button on it?

yes the phone line has a join next to the box where the cable is plugged in and yes the router does have a reset button on it.

there is also a filter where the phone comes in

was the router new?

with the speedtouch plugged in you get internet but with the belkin you don't

yes belkin new when we got it but had it about 1 1/2 years but only now trying to network and yes only with speedtouch do i get internet.

for my router i hooked it u (no speedtouch) and got into the router 192.169.1.2 told it to automatically detect settings, i had no static settings other than what was specified to have (in my literature that came with it) and i went to the command prompt. start. run, type in CMD

than type ipconfig /release, enter
than type ipconfig /renew enter
be sure thier is a space between ipconfig and the /.
see if that helps, not likely but worth a shot

Thanks to all who tried to help me go wireless especially brain damage. Belkin is now in the bin cos my orange livebox arrived and we were wireless in less than an hour YEAH!!!! (the wife set it up)

make sure you set up security on the wireless you don't want every other household around you using your broadband
