Dell Latitude D520 will not restart

    Hello
Got a latitude D520 that ignores all restart commands. ie in Windows if I try to restart it ignores and just shuts down as if I had clicked shut down. Boots up first time perfectly fine when I then go on to press the power button again but it should be restarting automatically. Initially thought this to be a software problem with Windows but realised that the same thing happens when I try to restart from the BIOS. Just shuts down and does not boot back up again. Nothing to do with any power management settings in the BIOS that I can see and have tried removing ALL CRU devices including HDD, optical drive, Wi-fi card, modem and bluetooth card. Even took out the memory and checked if the diagnostic message reported back was as it should be. Went through this with Dell tech support and they are as stumped as I am. Laptop is brand new (2 days old) and other than this runs 100% fine. Anyone got any ideas what this could be?

If you put latitude D520 into this link under Troubleshooting and FAQ's you might see something:

    http://support.dell.com/

But if this is only 2 days old return it and demand a new machine. Accept no alternative. Demand a machine that works properly!
