As soon as it came back on i got a black screen that says "Non-system disk or disk error Replace and strike any key when ready". thats it i cant leave the screen cant axcess nothing. any ideas of whats wrong/how to fix it? Id rather not have it blamed on me for simply restarting the computer :P. so any help would be much appreciated.

Hold the power button until the machine shuts down (@ 3 seconds).

Then restart it and see if the same happens.

Shut down the computer and unplug it from the wall outlet.

Press and hold the power button for a minute.

Then plug it back in and try again.

What is the exact HP model and number?

Try entering the BIOS Setup by pressing the F2 key right after powering on.

In the Setup look for your hard drive in the Boot Menu.

So you don't even see a BIOS POST?

    Any Beeps?

Are you ready to open it up?

That error message means that the BIOS cannot find a bootable device.

The strange thing is that you have to be going thru the BIOS to get to that point.

Press the F1 key repeatedly during the first startup screen until the entering setup message appears.
Press the F5 key to restore the default settings. Use the arrow keys to select YES and press ENTER.
Press the F10 key to save the changes and exit. Use the arrow keys to select YES and press ENTER.
