no audio device/driver window xp

    i was tring to get rid of things that we don't use on our computer to help it run a bit faster. I think what happened is I must have deleted our sound driver some how. we have no sound on the computer now and when i went to microsoft help it sadi my computer was running fine and all drivers work. Every time i turn the computer on it is looking for new hardware and when i try to play music or get sound it says that there is no audio device.. please help i don't want to restore it i don't have to... i also tried to restore by back dating the computer and it everyday i try to change it to it says system can't change to that date nothin was changed
    please help

    Do you let it set up the new hardware? What happens if you try?

    You can download Everest from my signature. Install and run it. Under computer summary it will list multimedia. This is where it tells you what sound device you have.
    Once we know that we can find the right driver.
